Statistics show there are a lot of “John Smith Days” being held today, being that it’s
NATIONAL MAKE UP YOUR OWN HOLIDAY DAY! (YOUR NAME HERE)
That’s right, March 26th is a day so lackluster, so bereft of notable births, deaths or great events, that its most popular observance is National Make Up Your Own Holiday Day, meaning that anything you can think of, or anyone you name is more interesting and important than anything in the history of March 26th.
It’s “Jimmy Day” somewhere, and “National Fat Guy With A Mullet Day” someplace else. In Korea, it’s “Wok Your Dog Day,” while in Somalia today’s annual “Gruel Festival” kicks off Famine Week. How about “World Goldfish Day” or “International Day of Sally McCoy?” “Raw Cookie Dough Day,” anyone?
It’s your call! And don’t be afraid to be petty and shallow. How do you think Festivus got started? How does “Global Awareness of Walter’s Pet Peeves Day” sound?
