TODAY’S NATIONAL DAY, 2/28/23 – GOOD RIDDANCE FEBRUARY DAY!

Northeast SnowYou won’t find this brand new holiday in any Official Directory of Observances, but it’s sure to catch on. You see, at long last, today is

NATIONAL GOOD RIDDANCE FEBRUARY DAY!

Winter’s been raging for over 2 months, and you’re thinking homicidal thoughts about your local TV Weatherperson, the smug jerk.

We don’t need smirking camera hogs rubbing it in, we know it’s been The Winter From Hell. One more “I told you so” after a monstrous blizzard and he’s dead meat.

Our souls, our cars and our streets are battered, the muscles we use only for shoveling snow are barking, and the whole world has been grimy gray for weeks. Enough! But tomorrow is March, the month that brings Spring, and sweet release.

March may give us a rough week or two, but at least we can say it’s not February, and know Winter’s end is near. Just the turn of the calendar page lifts our spirits, and hearts race with the first overdue flutters of Spring Fever.

The warmth is coming. The sunshine. The scent of flowers and, best of all, baseball. So, say goodbye to February, and good damned riddance!

•Suggested Activities: Planning a barbecue. At the beach.
