Minds out of the gutter now, we’re talking pastry here! You know who you are on
NATIONAL STICKY BUNS DAY!
Okay, salacious thoughts are unavoidable when saying sticky buns, but they were introduced to America by the notoriously unsexy German immigrants to Pennsylvania back in the 1700s.
Sticky buns involve twisted leavened dough, almond paste, cinnamon, pecans and plenty of brown sugar, coated with honey to make that sweet sticky goo that gets on everything.
They’re usually gigantic too, impossible to eat in a dignified way, but damned good and well worth the ordeal. For lack of anything else to celebrate, Happy Sticky Buns Day.
