NATIONAL MONKEY DAY!

There’s 260 kinds of monkeys in this world, divided into Old World Monkeys and New World Monkeys (Old World monkeys are way cooler is how you tell them apart, they smoke Gauloises and wear horn rim shades).

Monkeys being the magnanimous sort, Monkey Day also honors apes, tarsiers and lemurs, covering all the primate genetic cousins.

All except one, that is: Man. Seems we’ve been thrown out of the Monkey Club for all our boasting about our measly two opposable thumbs, half the number of our monkey kin. That, and that whole organ grinder thing, just didn’t sit well with monkeys at all.

Be that as it may, let’s give a piercing shriek for all the monkeys of this world!

•Suggested activities: Monkey business, monkeyshines, mutual grooming.
