TODAY’S NATIONAL DAY, 9/24/20 – BLUEBIRD OF HAPPINESS DAY!

BluebirdsMay the Bluebird of Happiness light upon your shoulder and sing you sweet melodies forever and a day. Or, at the very least, not soil your car on this most auspicious of celebrations,

NATIONAL BLUEBIRD OF HAPPINESS DAY!

The Bluebird of Happiness was dreamed up by a Frenchman, fittingly, being that the French are a pretty happy lot. In an annoying way, but that’s a whole other holiday (National Bite Me, You French Dick! Day, August 28).

From Maurice Maeterlinck’s whimsical play for children, “L’Oiseau Bleu,” the image of the Bluebird of Happiness has evolved into the universal symbol for carefree joy, a precious commodity in this grim world. The Bluebird is fickle and doesn’t come when it’s called, but visits when it will. Your job is to make that feeling last.
