NATIONAL GODDESS OF FERTILITY DAY!

There have been hundreds of Goddesses of Fertility since we started having Gods and Goddesses, the most famous being Ishtar (Babylonian), Aphrodite (Greek), Frigg (Norse) and Venus (Roman). Fertility Goddesses are always beautiful and kind but, as with all deities, unreliable and mischievous. But these are beautiful and elusive deities, and so we appease and please them as best we can, in the hopes of fertile wombs. Fields too. Bountiful harvests are also these Goddesses’ responsibility. Mankind’s first gods were women, Mother Nature, Earth Mother, etc. The earliest talismans from every part of the world depicted exaggeratedly big-breasted, round-bellied women. On Goddess of Fertility Day we tend to our gardens and our lovers. There’s worse ways to welcome Spring.
