TODAY’S NATIONAL DAY, 12/11/19 – CHRISTMAS CARD DAY!

BAH HUMBUGToday we honor Sir Henry Cole (1818 – 1874) of England. Why, you say? Because he invented them, and today is

NATIONAL CHRISTMAS CARD DAY!

Now you know who to blame for the 187 cards you have to fill out and mail to people you never hear from except via Christmas cards, which most of us have not even begun to tackle yet. Do we even know all these people with whom we exchange Christmas cards, or is this just a way to see who’s still alive after all these years without having to actually talk to anybody, sort of a pre-texting disconnect? Do we go with the “Merry Christmas,” the more generic “Season’s Greetings,” add a continental touch with “Joyeux Noel” or go whole hog with an uncomfortable looking family photo in ugly sweaters? So many choices, so little time, so we usually go for the ones we get cheap in the dollar store and hope nobody notices. Well, you’re officially late for sending your Christmas cards, so have yourself a Joyeux Noel. And get busy!

Suggested Activities: Trying to remember Bill and Sarah’s kids’ names.
